History
In the course of conversation, one of the repeat questions we get asked is ‘where did the name come from?’
We have a fairly unique back story which should help shed some light on our past.
Early years
Forfey began as a fairly niche indie music and arts festival in 2006, hidden away on a family farm out in the rural heartland of Northern Ireland. The festival adopted the name of the Forfey townland on which the farm was located. Over the course of nine years, the team converted hay sheds and silo pits to venues, gave new leases of life to old barns (including the one pictured above) and discovered some of the best music and an incredible bunch of people. It was quite the era.
During that time, we provided our own event production services and from 2008, started to be asked by like-minded festivals and events if we could help out with the same. We’d come from a background of musicians, production people and some pretty hard-working and resourceful folk. They were very fond memories and in the course of accomplishing a lot with limited resources, helped build the foundations for the type of company we are today.
Moving forward 15 years, the company has now grown into its current form – a group of highly-skilled production professionals doing their thing at scale and with excellence. From tiny sheds in the Irish countryside, to global tours, arenas and events, we enjoy the breadth of what we do and we’re grateful for where we’ve come from.
